THE SYSTEM IN PRACTICE

How it fits
your work.

The tether carries data between the ROV and the pilot station, but also adds bulk and drag. The choice depends on length, environment, instruments and tether recovery arrangements.

Slim and Strong versions use copper conductors with different constructions. Fibre optics are an alternative to assess together with converters and terminations, not just as a cable replacement.

01

Slim

Small diameter for compact link management.

02

Strong

Different construction and conductor count, depending on configuration.

03

Fibre optics

Dedicated communication architecture with conversion devices.

CONFIGURATIONS, EQUIPMENT AND DATA

A closer look.

Control and video link

The tether carries commands, telemetry and video. Slim and Strong cables are designed for underwater use with neutral buoyancy, slightly positive in salt water.

In our reference electrical configurations, transmission may deteriorate beyond approximately 200 m — 300 m for Strong. Dedicated interfaces can mitigate the issue; fibre optics offer an alternative for greater lengths. This is not a universal threshold for every network.

Cable, terminations and length

The dedicated fibre-optic page specifies approximately 250 kg rather than 300 kg: these values relate to the specific cable, not a single common rating. Cable diameter and strength do not replace connector and termination limits.
