THE SYSTEM IN PRACTICE
Seeing an object underwater does not immediately tell you its size. A laser scaler adds a known-distance reference to the image, useful for documenting details and comparing observations.
The basic version uses two red lasers 10 cm apart. Each unit has its own connector; separation and colour can be customised to suit the application.
A scale reference visible in the frame.
Software-controlled intensity and operator-adjustable position.
Individual connections for the laser units.
CONFIGURATIONS, EQUIPMENT AND DATA
The basic configuration projects two red laser points 10 cm apart. This reference helps estimate the size of cracks, fissures, organisms and other targets in the scene; surface geometry and camera orientation affect the measurement.
