THE SYSTEM IN PRACTICE
When observation turns into intervention, a gripper adds a grasping function to the ROV. Newton Gripper uses a linear actuator to open and close its jaws.
Mounting must preserve a view of the working area and avoid interference with thrusters or instruments. Recovery and sampling require assessment of the object’s shape, actual grip and the vehicle’s ability to handle the load.
Controlled opening and closing of the jaws.
Electric actuation of the gripper.
Potential adaptations for specific sampling tasks.
CONFIGURATIONS, EQUIPMENT AND DATA
Newton Gripper is a single-function manipulator with jaws driven by a linear actuator. It integrates with BlueROV and compatible platforms to grasp a line, help free a snagged cable or recover small objects. A dedicated sampler allows it to collect sediment.
