THE SYSTEM IN PRACTICE

How it fits
your work.

ROVL Mark III uses acoustic measurements to locate the ROV unit. Converting them into geographic coordinates also requires the position and heading of the surface reference.

Cerulean Mark III kits sold after September 2025 include the Mark V underwater unit, which can recognise the operating mode. This does not make Mark III and the complete Mark V system identical: receiver and synchronisation must be distinguished.

CONFIGURATIONS, EQUIPMENT AND DATA

A closer look.

The SORS bundle in use

Our configuration includes a USB GPS antenna on the piloting computer, a transceiver connected to the station by cable/USB, and an acoustic unit on the ROV. The transceiver is submerged below the vessel’s hull, kept stable and given a clear acoustic path to the vehicle.

The operating page suggests immersing the surface reference by approximately one metre. QGroundControl can display position and track on the map; interfaces, orientation and geographic references require configuration.

Range, depth and version

Link distance references are 300 m or approximately 500 m, depending on configuration; the ROV unit has a 300 m operating depth. Acoustic distance and immersion depth are separate parameters: the applicable limit is defined for the supplied system.

The reference configuration uses one pulse per second. Synchronisation depends on the kit version: not all Mark III units synchronise both units by satellite. Composition and synchronisation must match the chosen version.
