THE SYSTEM IN PRACTICE
Surveyor acquires measurements across a swath perpendicular to the route. The integrated IMU provides pitch and roll; GNSS position and vehicle heading complete the reference needed to locate the measurements.
SonarView lets you follow acquisition and review the mission. CSV point clouds can be processed in compatible software. GSF export is beta and must be checked against the chosen workflow.

CONFIGURATIONS, EQUIPMENT AND DATA
Surveyor 240-16 is a multibeam echo sounder for acquiring seabed points and describing bathymetric contours, variations and changes. Applications include mapping, searching for submerged objects, structure monitoring and hydraulic works planning.
Its compact size supports installation on USVs such as BlueBoat and on ROVs. The nominal 300 m immersion depth is not the measurement range: acoustic parameters and installation remain specific to the selected version.
The integrated IMU supports motion compensation. Georeferencing also requires vehicle position and heading: on a surface vehicle these come from configured onboard GNSS references; underwater, an appropriate positioning system is required.
Multibeam coverage can reduce the number of passes compared with a single-beam echo sounder; the actual benefit depends on the mission. The original introduction’s “ten times” ratio is not guaranteed performance for every survey.
SonarView supports live acquisition, real-time preview, offline playback and export for post-processing. CSV data can be imported into compatible hydrographic software and point-cloud programs such as CloudCompare, MeshLab or Blender, with coordinates and columns configured correctly.
The linked software page distinguishes these functions from current export options and beta features.
